On my daughter's first birthday invitations, I wrote:
"Catch a ride on a cloud and follow the rainbow to Jennifer's 1st birthday... Don't forget to wear your favorite color!".

For the invitation I had a picture of a rainbow with a cloud on the end. On the front of the invite (in the cloud), it said "All the colors of the rainbow..." and the inside page said, "...and so much more!" with party details to the side of it.
Also - each guest was invited to come dressed in a designated rainbow color. That way I could make sure, all of the colors of the rainbow would be at the party :-).
