You can have a surprise pirate party for your girl/boy. It's best if you organize it on a day where a few of your kid's friends are anyways planning to hang out together (the kids that come hang out with your child will know about the surprise party but will keep it a secret).
Hide some sort of treasure map (one that looks old and authentic) and then one of your child's friend's can play out as if they just found this treasure map... and then your child's friends can play out as if they are excited about it and what treasure they might find..
Then they can all go out for a treasure hunt (you'll need to have this organized beforehand). Hide all kinds of messages in all kinds of places (example: a message in a bottle). Each message will have a clue to the next message. The last message will lead to the surprise pirate party (like at a park, at a friend's house, at any other party place, etc.). And then when your kid arrives, lots of people will be waiting for him/her and they all yell "SURPRISE"!
