Coolest Clown Birthday Party Ideas and Photos

Clown birthday party ideas and photos by: Sandra from Peoria, IL

For my son’s fifth birthday he wanted a clown birthday party. So we dug out the face paint and went to work! I made his invites on our computer. Mostly clip art and the important party info. For decorations we used yellow and red streamers and lots of balloons. I also used homemade posters. I made several to look like vintage carnival posters. I also asked each parent to e-mail me a photo of their child. I took those and turned them into side show people. Everyone loved them. Plus the kids all got to take home the photos.

We turned up the tunes. I downloaded circus party music from the internet along with some funny kids songs (the monkey dance, banana phone Mr. Sun etc). The kids all had fun dancing around while they wait their turn for games. We sat out snacks of popcorn and animal crackers in large bowls all over. As the kids arrived we put them at a table to make their own party hat. I gave each one a plain pointy party hat. We laid out glitter, glue, pompoms and animal stickers.

Then they were off to the face painting. My sister-in-law and I set out the face paints and gave each child a turn to get something painted on their faces. Most wanted to be clowns!

We played pop the balloons. Everyone got to pull balloons down and try to pop them to see what prize was inside. Each one had some little toy (whistles, small bubble favors etc.) inside. Then we played pin the nose on Karl. I blew up a photo of Karl on our computer. It took up four sheets of paper and we taped them together. We cut out small red circles for the kids to pin on his nose. The kids loved it and Karl really felt special to have his photo being used!!

For the cake at the circus party I put small clowns around the outside of a round cake. I put balloons in the hands of some. I put different colored dots around the edges of the cake. I used small clown candles on the top and wrote out happy birthday. We also had cupcakes. I frosted cupcakes in bright colors and added an animal cookie to the top of each one. The kids loved the party and Karl always talks about how much fun he had at his clown party .
