Why should you buy a used cake pan on eBay?

- On eBay you'll find almost every cake pan that has ever existed
- You know exactly what you're getting (and you know it'll work... ;-)
- You'll probably use it only once, so why even think about buying a new one?!

Curious George birthday cake idea

For this Curious George birthday cake idea, I used the Wilton doll cake pan and carved all the sides and top so that it would look like "The Big Yellow Hat" from Curious George.

I rolled out ready-made fondant icing that had been colored yellow. From the yellow fondant icing I cut a circle using a large plate as a template. I then placed the carved "doll" cake in the center of the circle for the main part of the hat.

I iced with buttercream icing first to create a smooth finish. After the buttercream icing I added more rolled out yellow fondant to the Curious George hat cake.

To make moving the fondant easier, I picked it up with a rolling pin and then trimmed the excess fondant with a knife. I made a small hat band with more yellow fondant and placed it around the base of the cake (it's best to wet the back side to make the fondant stick to itself)...

As a finish I took a Curious George doll and had it lean on the cake (it really made the finishing touch as it added more color to the cake and the table). Everyone loved it and we all had a really good time at the party. Hope this helped someone with their Curious George birthday cake idea!
