Coolest Noah's Ark First Birthday Party Idea

This Noah's Ark first birthday party idea is the perfect party for a little one who loves animals. (Take a look at the Coolest 1st Birthdays Section for more themes...)

Before you gather the animals and get ready for the flood of compliments and gifts :-) , take a look at this great 1st birthday Noah's Ark partyware pack.

Here are even more Noah's ark supplies so you can compare and find the best deal.

Invitations

An excellent Noah's Ark first birthday party idea for an invitation is the elephant invitation where the trunk is folded like an acordion over the party details. Take gray or brown paper and cut out the shape of an elephant's head and trunk. Then draw eyes (or glue on wiggly eyes) and tusks and fill in all the party information (also asking the kids to come with a stuffed animal).

You can ask that the kids dress up as any animal. Write all the needed information on the trunk, then fold it up accordion style and also fold up the ears. You can write something like: "Join us on the Ark as we celebrate (baby's name) 1st birthday!". To make it cute, write some letters so that they're flipped and look as if a small child wrote them. A cool Noah's Ark first birthday party idea is to ask every guest to bring a stuffed animal to be part of Noah's Ark.

Decorations

A good first birthday party idea is to provide stuffed animals and toys to play with (if toddlers will also be coming). Disperse the stuffed animals you have all around the party area. Hang animal print balloons, or just colorful balloons and streamers everywhere.

This Animal print gossamer is excellent to set the scene - you can drape furniture with it, hang it on the walls and cover the party table.

Use chalk to draw big animal footprints on your driveway and leading to your front door. Inside you can put construction paper animal prints that can guide the guests to the party area.

A fun Noah's Ark first birthday party idea is to create animal ears fastened to a headband for everyone to wear.

Icebreaker Activities

If there'll be young kids joining the party, it's important they have several activities to take part in as they arrive.

*Buggy Frame: This fun first birthday party idea / activity has the kids designing animal photo frames and magnets. You can take a Polaroid or digital photo or each kid and have them put it into the designed frames to take home. The kids (and their parents) will love'em.

*Animal Sponges: Here's an excellent Noah's Ark first birthday party idea. Cut animal shapes out of ordinary kitchen cleaning sponges (older kids will enjoy cutting out their own sponges). You can do this by tracing animal patterns on the sponge prior to cutting them out. For younger kids, parents will want to already have them cut out and just let the kids stamp them into washable paint to create pictures or they can take the sponges home as a favor and fun bath toy.

*Animal Masks: (For the older kids if any are coming…) To get everyone into the animal mood, a cool Noah's Ark first birthday party idea is to make animal masks from paper plates. Supply them with big white paper plates, glue or tape, scissors, felt pieces, buttons, sequins, markers or crayons, etc. (If you want, you can cut eyes and a hole for the nose beforehand in all of the plates, tie a string to both ends so that they can put them on their face, and then let them decorate.)

Food and Drink

Noah's Ark Cake:

Animal Cakes

Take a look at our very own animal cake ideas, including reader-submitted photos and how-to tips...

Here's a fun Noah's Ark first birthday party idea for a cake. Prepare and bake a cake from a packaged cake mix just as the directions instruct on the package (in a round cake pan). Then cut the cake in half after the cake has cooled off and frost one side of one of the halves. Then place one layer on top of the other on the cake board. You will now have two halves of a cake on top of each other (with frosting between them to hold them together).

Trim the rounded side so that you have a flat base to stand the "boat" on. Gently tip the cake so that the trimmed edge is placed on the cake board and then frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting. Next, cut a pound cake in half and using only one of the halves, trim the top, to create a roof-like appearance. Frost the "hut" and add it to the top of the ark. As a finish, place animals around the ark in pairs (could be animal shaped cookies, animal crackers, or just clean plastic animals). Remember to put the animals in pairs!!

First Birthday Party Idea for Food

*Cut sandwiches into animal shapes
*Tiger treats: Orange cheese balls
*Animal-Striped Pizzas (you can be very creative with this one by making your own pizzas using alternates of white, yellow and orange cheese strips to look like animal print. You can also add toppings in alternates, like a row of olives in a diagonal, then a row of cheese, another row of olives, etc. for tasty animal stripes.
*Pigs in blankets (hot dogs)
*French Flies (fries)
*Peanut Butter and Jellyphant sandwiches (Cut these out with an elephant cookie cutter)
*Toad-slaw (coleslaw)

First Birthday Party Idea for Drinks

*Alligator-ade (green Gatorade!!)

Tip: Make frozen ice cubes with raisins in them so it looks like flies are floating in their animal juices (the older kids just love this!)

First Birthday Party Idea for Treats

*Monkey bites (chunks of bananas)
*Rabbit pellets (raisins)
*Animal crackers
*Gummy bears and other animal fruit snacks
*Jell-O with gummy sharks in each container

Birthday Party Favors

HERE's the best place to get a whole bunch of miniature animals and animal trinkets.

You can also take a look at these plastic jungle animals which make for great favor items. Other items can include stuffed animals, animal print accessories, etc.

Games and Activities

*Baby Floor Play: A classic first birthday party idea is to let the babies explore, touch and cuddle with all the soft stuffed animals for floor play. You can also, build an ark with play pillows or large soft building blocks. Build tunnels for the little ones to crawl through, climb over and knock down.

*Animal Parade: Play music and have an animal parade, playing follow the leader with animal movements and sounds.

*Guess Your Animal Game: Tape a paper with a picture or name of an animal on the kids' (and parents') back. Everyone has to ask questions until they find out what their animal is.

*Animal Story Time: If you're up to a bit of storytelling, a captivating Noah's Ark first birthday party idea is to read an animal-related story with an animated voice, and use animal puppets.

*Pool Babies: A first birthday party idea for a nice and refreshing activity on a warm day would be to fill a baby pool with animal play toys and boats and let the babies cool off.

*Animal Charades: Cut out a bunch of animal pictures from a magazine, or print out from the Web. Then print them out or paste them to index-sized cards. Each guest (kid or parent) gets a turn to pick a card. Then they must act out their creature (no words are allowed, but animal noises are encouraged) until the others shout out the animal and then everyone has to act out the same animal together. This can be very funny to play with the adults.
